1 How to update information in a DoD Enterprise (DEE), Global Address List (GAL). Army users know it as business: Michael J. Danbury Last Revision / View: 04 June 2015 This guide was created to assist members of the Military Intelligence Readiness Command (MIRC) in updating their information in the DISA GAL. Will be used by anyone working DoD Enterprise. The Defense Personnel Information Center (DMDC) is a database used by the DoD Note: This guide indicates that you can access other CAC-enabled websites from your computer. 8 The Personal Information tab is displayed first. Your Enterprise User Name (EUN), main/residential address, addresses and personal phone numbers can be updated in this tab. This information updates your contact information in DEERS. Select Submit when done Note: You can change how your name appears in the GAL. Slides provide more information 8
9 Update the unit's contact information by selecting the appropriate character sheet [eg for CTR]. You may see different tabs depending on your character: MIL is used for military CIVs, CTR for civilians is used for contractors. Some people may have more than one persona, if you have it, refresh all tabs.. Multiple personas are called dual persona 9.

10 MIRC personnel must change/update these 3 fields (along with the duty phone number on the next slide) Duty Organization: US Army * Duty Organization: Military Intelligence Readiness Command * Duty Deployment / Location: US Army Reserve Center * * Select the drop down Menu to change fields United States Army Military Intelligence Readiness Command US Army Reserve Center Note: Your task placement automatically affects your mailbox placement. Each installation is connected to specific DECC (Defense Enterprise Computing Center) exchange servers, and changing the installation will move the mailbox [in the background] to the designated DECC for your [new] installation. Note 2: This does not apply to Prime Class users, only Business Class (see comments on page 19). Change Account Location is the appropriate method for PCS users to change their mailbox location. For the Army Reserve, nothing will change more than the US Army Reserve Center. 15 How to change the first name part of your GAL display name (shown on slide 8) The first name part of your display name includes your first name, last name, middle name and nickname. You must select: Change to start changes 15
16 How to change the name part of a display name in GAL (continued) This screen gives you options to change parts of the name part of the display name, including adjusting capitalization, and adding hyphens or apostrophes. The current value of the user's display name is shown above. To change your display name, select the desired option and/or enter the required personal information. Custom allows you to enter special characters (dots, dashes, apostrophes) and uppercase letters (eg McDonald's to McDonald's), but the letters must remain the same. 16
17 How to change the first name part of the name displayed in the GAL (cont.) 1) You can change how your last name is displayed: Full or Custom by selecting the desired radio button (blue arrow). 2) You can change how your name is displayed: Full, Initial, or by selecting the radio button (red arrow). 3) You can change how your middle name is displayed: Full, Initial, or by selecting the radio button (purple arrow). 4) If you want to use a nickname, (the nickname can be included in the preferred title) (green arrow). Selected name entries should use common sense, good judgment, and professional judgment. (Example: Mike for Michael) 17
