The trigger safety is a small lever that prevents the trigger from being pulled unless direct and proper pressure is applied. It's easy if it's your trigger finger, but harder if it's someone else's.

The firing pin safety prevents the firing pin from advancing unless the trigger is pulled. If the trigger is not pulled, the firing pin cannot physically move.

If you want more power, the 10mm Auto is a great caliber to choose. At twice the power of the 9mm, the 10mm is a medium small cartridge.
The Glock 20 gives you 15+1 shots at 10mm, but still maintains a very G17 feel throughout the gun. It was impressive, to say the least.
